Tis the season to the "I wants." The bible is clear about what destruction can come from those who are in the Plentiful stages of life. Adam had a perfect set up and he and Eve fell to wanting more...to be like God! Noah was obedient and prospered until he fell to drunkenness and cursing his son. Who was the center of his behavior? David was as well respected as one earthly man could be. Surrounded by all earthly power and prosperity David fell to adultery and murder. How pride can truly come before the fall of man. Solomon was another man who loved this world more than his creator. He allowed his wives to corrupt his home and his decisions.
My question to you is what are you allowing into your life, your thoughts, your mind that could be possibly rooted in pride and this world? For the scripture states"do not bring a detestable thing into your house or you, like it, will be set apart for destruction."(Deuteronomy 7:26)
What does the word detestable mean: morally disgusting, and abomination. Other examples are perversion, occult activity, dishonest business practice.
What does destruction mean: to totally remove, burn to the ground(like the city of Jericho), holy destruction
So if I am harboring pride, allowing excess to take over my contentment than the Lord will rid me of my pride and want so He can have victory with my life.
As I am in a stage of life where needs are being met I can find myself coveting the plenty of the past. I experienced myself caught up in the "I miss the 4 Christmas trees in our home." Now, I am thankful in the content of a home and heat.
This season has a reason. Where are you rooted? What is your focus?
